Marcel Rieder

Marcel can already look back on a great career of mountain biking. At the age of six, he competed in his first ever bike race. Inside the youth category, the older brother of AMG ROTWILD Team rider Nadine set his focus on cross country racing. At the age of 19, he made the switch to downhill racing until eventually quitting at the age of 21. After having done apprenticeship and receiving his degree, the old love that is racing got back at him and since 2015 Marcel is infected by passion for Enduro racing.

WHAT DOES A USUAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

Usually getting up at 6:00 am followed by 30-45 minutes of running with my dog. After that it’s breakfast before being at the office at 8:00 am straight. I work until lunchtime and do a one hour walk or ride with my dog before getting back to work until 6:00 pm. In the evening, I’m off to the gym or another bike ride depending on what my training schedule demands. I’ll usually have dinner in the evening and spend time with my girlfriend or buddies afterwards.

WHICH GOALS DID YOU SET YOURSELF, WHAT’S YOUR MOTIVATION?

First and foremost, I want to have fun while riding my bike. Enduro riding means meeting your buddies, suffering on the uphills and getting the reward like great trails on the downhill. Races do really compare to that scheme. You’re out with your friends doing a nice loop with the added challenge of getting a great time at the special stages. I did my first Enduro race in 2015 and my first thought was “it’s a shame that we didn’t have these race formats when I was younger!”
