Marc Zimmermann

ROTWILD Factory Rider

Even as a small child Marc tried out some new crazy things with his bicycles at every little opportunity. The sports marketing student started his sports career first in the Downhill Junior Class, followed by several years of national and international races in the licensing sector. Until 2016, a serious mountain bike accident led to a turn towards enduro sports. There he is fascinated by the many aspects of this format. No matter if in races, in training or simply on a tour with his friends, Marc never gets bored here.

MARC, WHAT'S YOUR TYPICAL DAY LIKE?

Rule number one: "No day starts without a fresh hot coffee in the morning!" Seriously, I don't have a "typical" day. But what I can say is that on no day sport and training are neglected and I am absolutely grateful for that. Even though Cologne unfortunately doesn't have any 3,000 meter peaks, here at the German Sport University you are surrounded by highly motivated professional athletes with whom it is great fun to do your training session. So when I'm not sitting in a lecture or browsing through books in the university library, you can find me either riding my racing bike up and down the Rhine or running somewhere in the Cologne city forest.

AND, WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS, WHAT DRIVES YOU?

I think the key to my drive is simply the pure passion for cycling. For me there is no other sport that gives me this feeling of happiness, joy or satisfaction like this one. For me it is very valuable to have found something in life from which I can draw strength for new tasks every day.

One of my big personal goals is definitely to continue to stay physically healthy in order to gradually return to my old form. In addition, there are still some bike parks and destinations on my list that I would really like to explore.

Since last year, I have also been working as a mountain bike trainer and enjoy every time anew to be allowed to bring our sport closer to the people. I also want to inspire more people with this great sport.
