Brose Updates

Release information Software version 8.6.0

The software update has been available in the Brose Service Tool since May 17, 2024. It relates to the following points:

  • Improved torque behavior: The torque behavior at the first pedal stroke or at the first pedal revolution has been improved. This results in noticeably better acceleration behavior for the rider.
  • Optimized light engagement behaviour: The light switch-on behavior has been optimized for lamps with high output. Unwanted errors when switching on the light have been rectified.
  • More precise distance calculation: The distance calculation algorithm has been optimized, resulting in a more precise calculation of the distance covered.
  • New error message “CAN Battery msg timeout”: A new error message has been introduced to identify problems in the battery CAN communication.

These improvements are available for the following models:

  • C97272-100 Drive S Alu
  • E06855-100/200 Drive S Mag h

Release information Software version 8.5.1

The software update is available immediately - as of February 7, 2024 - in the Brose Service Tool for motors E22243-300 and C91143-300. It relates to the following points:
  • Push assist: Thanks to a newly programmed current, the push assist not only starts more dynamically, but now also reaches maximum power in a shorter time with continuous support.
  • Optimized derating in boost mode: The parameters are now calculated more sensitively so that there is a smoother transition from 24 km/h even in boost mode.
  • Remaining range calculation: The remaining range is now calculated even more accurately. The battery charge level is now also calculated more accurately. Brake light test: If no rear light has been configured for the model, the component is no longer queried.

Release information for software version 8.5.0

The software update has been available since May 02, 2023. The updates affect the S-Mag E06855-100 and S-Mag E06855-200. The update includes the following changes:

  • Walk Assist: By means od newly programmed current, the new walk asisst nor only starts more dynamically, but now also reaches the maximum power in a shorter time with continuous assistance.
  • Optimized derating in boost mode: The parameters are now calculated more sensitively, so that there is also a smoother transition from 24 hm/h in boost mode.
  • Range calculation: The remaining range ist now calculated more accuratly and the calculation oft he SOC value is now also more accurate.
  • Brake Light Test: If no rear light has been configured fort he model, the component is no longer queried.

Brose Allround Software Update R50

A new update is available for the Brose Allround Display E41230-100. The current update R50 introduces new functions and includes the following changes:

  • Sport Screen: Display of values for the sporty rider. Comparison of e.g. rider and engine power as well as cadence. The individual values are also integrated in the basic display.
  • Languages: Extension of the languages to include Italian and Spanish.
  • BMZ battery: The information of the BMZ batteries can also be read out.
  • Attention: After the software update, the display switches off and must be restarted!

Software version 8.1.5.

The software update has been available in the Brose Service Tool since 18.08.2022. The software updates refer to drives of the Gen 2 family:

  • E01680-200 S Mag vertical
  • E06855-200 S Mag horizontal
  • E41222-200 T Mag vertical
  • E57026-200 T Mag horizontal
  • E57028-200 C Mag horizontal
  • E41219-200 C Mag vertical
  • E41221-200 TF Mag US vertical
  • E57027-200 TF Mag US horizontal

Change at a glance:

The current 8.1.5 firmware update is designed to improve stability and fixes a bug in the motor control that was causing overcurrent spikes. Overcurrent peaks can occur, for example, and generate an error code when driving into a dip at a very high speed and subsequently generating a lot of current and overload through very high cadence (very fast pedalling). After the update has been installed, the bike can only be switched on via the display; the button on the display must be held down for approx. four seconds.

Software version 8.1.0

The software update has been available since 01.03.2022 and affects the following motors:

  • Drive S Alu (C97272-100)
  • Drive T Alu (C91143-200)
  • Drive TF Alu (C97292-200)
  • Drive C Alu (E22243-200)
  • Drive S Mag vertical (E01680-200)
  • Drive S Mag horizontal (E06855-200)
  • Drive T Mag vertical (E41222-100)
  • Drive T Mag horizontal (E57026-100)
  • Drive C Mag vertical (E41219-100)
  • Drive C Mag horizontal (E57028-100)

Change at a glance:

The range calculation in the current software has been changed to be independent of the support level to prevent implausible output of the remaining range calculation in the different support levels. This results in an overall calculation for all support levels. The value is adjusted every 100 metres. Only in support level 0 (Off) is there no calculation, as no data is transmitted here.

Software version 7.4.1 and Brose Allround Display, Software R39

The software update has been available since 01.04.2021 and affects the following motors:
  • Drive S Alu, C97272-100
  • Drive T Alu, C91143-200
  • Drive S Mag, horizontal, E06855-100
  • Drive S Mag, horizontal, E06855-200

Overview of changes in software version 7.4.1:

  • Improved push assist: The new push assist no longer requires 1.5 revolutions of advance on the rear wheel, but assists with full power as soon as it is actuated.
  • Error 29: The algorithm was readjusted for improved system stability, so that the hard shutdown (abrupt system shutdown) at error 29 is now only active in case of longer communication interruptions of an e-bike system component. Possible short-term communication interruptions no longer cause a system shutdown.
  • New tamper detection: The new tamper detection ensures that the drive recognises when the spoke magnet has been attached to the crank and thus the rear wheel and crank move in relation to each other in a 1:1 ratio. If this is the case, the drive switches off the assistance after 500 pedal revolutions. Error 47 becomes active and can be read out in the Service Tool.
  • Detection of a broken belt: If the belt tears, the drive switches off immediately to prevent consequential damage to the mechanics. Error code 48 becomes active and can be read out in the Service Tool. If the wheel is restarted, the error is deactivated again.

Software changes R39 at a glance:

  • New display mode "Clear Design": For improved display and readability, the new Clear Design mode offers a tidy and clearly structured display image. This can be selected via the menu. The different design settings are activated via the region parameter. While only the clear design is activated for the US market, both settings - the clear design and the multi-coloured design - are activated for the EU market.
  • Support: More and more precise individualisation options are now available when adjusting the support levels. The support level can now be adjusted individually and across the entire range of motor support via the "personal settings (1-100%)" menu. Previous versions can only use a percentage preset support level.
