ROTWILD R.R275 X ULTRA. The lightweight among gravel e-bikes
Awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award 2024, the ROTWILD R.R275 X ULTRA achieved a score of 1.3 in the gravel e-bike test conducted by ElektroRad magazine (issue 05-2025) and was highlighted as the lightest bike in the comparison. This highly sporty e-gravel bike, designed for speed, impressed the testers with its striking design, whisper-quiet TQ motor, and unique riding performance.
Compact and whisper-quiet: the TQ HPR50 motor as the ideal eAssist drive
The drive concept of the R.R275 X ULTRA focuses on rider power. The HPR50 motor from TQ, together with the integrated battery and boost button, embodies the idea of eAssist. HPR stands for Harmonic Pin Ring gearbox. By eliminating conventional gears and belts, the motor achieves an extremely low total weight of just 1,850 g and allows for a remarkably compact design around the bottom bracket. So slim, the gravel e-bike is hardly recognizable as such. With up to 50 Nm of torque, the bike delivers a natural riding feel even beyond the 25 km/h support limit. Through the TQ app, the three support modes can be customized in detail to individual needs. Another special feature is the boost button: with a switch on the brake/shift levers, the maximum motor output of 300 watts can be activated for up to 30 seconds. This makes it ideal for conquering steep climbs. The integrated battery offers 252 Wh of range and can be expanded with a separately available 160 Wh range extender.
Award-winning design and lightweight construction
Developed in collaboration with the ARTEFAKT design studio, the futuristic design language is unmistakable and was honored in 2024 with the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award. The bike’s high functionality, the integration of electronic components, and the focus on sportiness have been translated into a clear, unique design. Battery, motor, and display blend seamlessly into the frame. The top tube and stem with integrated front light merge in a straight, continuous line that concludes with the rear light integrated into the frame. The full-carbon frame ensures maximum stiffness at a total weight of only 12.5 kg. This makes the R.X275 X ULTRA the lightest gravel e-bike in the test.
High-end components and integrated lighting system
The R.X275 X ULTRA is equipped with absolute high-end components. The aerodynamic five-spoke wheelset from XENTIS is made entirely of carbon and handcrafted in Austria. Wireless shifting: the electronic SRAM Force transmits shifting impulses from the handlebar to the receiver in the XPLR derailleur, guaranteeing responsive and consistently high shifting performance. Shifting up and down is intuitive via buttons on both sides of the handlebar, integrated into the ergonomic brake levers. The Starstream lighting system from Supernova was developed exclusively for seamless integration into a bike’s stem. The low beam delivers 550 lumens. A handlebar-mounted button also activates the high beam, which provides 1,000 lumens for maximum visibility in the dark. The permanently active TL3 Mini rear light is elegantly integrated into the top tube.
Conclusion: An aggressive speed hunter
With its uniquely futuristic design language, extremely low overall weight, and premium components, ROTWILD continues to set benchmarks. The R.R275 X ULTRA impressed the testers with its agility and light-footedness in the gravel category. Their verdict: ‘Fast, light, futuristic: more at home on the road than on gravel, Rotwild’s R.R 275 X Ultra shines with exceptional looks and unique riding performance.
