ROTWILD R.EX PRO. Top marks for the chassis

In issue 02-2026, BIKE magazine took a close look at seven candidates from the all-mountain category with different suspension and drive concepts. The bikes were tested intensively on the trails in Finale Ligure, Italy, as well as under standardized laboratory conditions. The ROTWILD R.EX PRO impressed as a complete package with its superior suspension and top marks for range.

The BIKE testers place the greatest importance on real-world riding performance uphill and downhill, and this is precisely where the R.EX impressed with its 160/150 mm suspension travel: “The ROTWILD scores top marks for its shock-absorbing suspension,” is the clear conclusion. The sensitive rear suspension, which has already proven itself in the R.EXC Race Enduro on World Cup tracks, is said to “iron out even large obstacles with exemplary smoothness” and offer a high level of comfort “without disconnecting the rider too much from the ground.” Uphill, the active rear suspension generates a lot of traction; on steep steps, “a short kick” in trail mode is enough to be powerfully pushed over obstacles by the powerful DJI Avinox drive.

One key advantage is the IPU900's outstanding range. “Even in the pre-production series, the lightweight replaceable battery in the ROTWILD delivers impressive range figures,” notes BIKE. To test this, the testers rode the systems at full power and found that the 864 Wh battery achieved similar range figures to other powerful batteries. A big plus point: with the DJI Avinox system, the R.EX is significantly faster than its competitors.

Unique selling point, independent and user-friendly: “The lightweight quick-change battery is unlocked at the push of a button. ROTWILD's proprietary design is unique in the DJI world to date.”

“Miracle battery and climbing skills,” writes BIKE magazine. This ties in seamlessly with the test results in issue 12-2024 of the magazine, where the testers noted, among other things: “Plenty of traction, top-of-the-line equipment, high-quality chassis, and super-low weight.” The ROTWILD R.EX is not only a lightweight and agile e-all-mountain bike, but also a true trail master.

Derived from World Cup racing and optimized for trails at home, the R.EX has an extremely powerful chassis. That's why the sensitive and shock-absorbent mid-high pivot rear suspension has also received high praise in the downhill category. It “irons out even large obstacles with exemplary smoothness and provides a high level of comfort without disconnecting the rider too much from the ground.” The short chainstays give the ROTWILD agile handling.
