R.XX - ENGINEERED FOR FLOW
The new ROTWILD R.XX combines maximum agility, low weight, and powerful e-MTB performance in a modern trail bike with all-mountain capabilities. The high-end carbon frame with a fully integrated 700-Wh battery achieves a target weight of around 20 kilograms while offering high stiffness and optimal integration.
While our R.EX and R.EXC enduro platforms offer maximum reserves for the most demanding descents, the R.XX takes a different approach. It’s designed for riders seeking a particularly agile, playful, and responsive riding experience—a bike that doesn’t just tackle the trail, but interacts with it. The result is a full-fledged e-trail bike with a 700-Wh battery and a target weight of around 20 kilograms.
CONSISTENT LIGHTWEIGHT CARBON CONSTRUCTION
FLOW STATE. BUILT IN.
The R.XX frame is made of Polydynamic Carbon. This material is the result of the continuous advancement of our carbon technology in terms of material selection, design, and manufacturing quality.
For the lay-up, we use high-quality 1,100-series UD fibers—currently the highest fiber grade available in cycling. Large, contiguous inlays reduce stress peaks, exceptionally smooth inner surfaces minimize material tolerances, and a reduced resin content ensures maximum efficiency in the material structure.
The result is a frame that is exceptionally lightweight yet highly durable.
We also made a conscious decision to choose the best design solution for battery integration. The 700-Wh battery is firmly integrated into the down tube. This creates a closed frame structure with maximum stiffness and optimal weight. For service work, the battery can be easily removed through the motor opening.
The distinctive recess in the top tube serves a functional purpose: it creates space for modern shocks with expansion tanks while also allowing for the integration of a full-size water bottle into the main frame.
Trail Kinematics for Active Riding
The R.XX’s riding experience is largely shaped by its newly tuned Elevated-Box-Design kinematics.
Compared to our enduro models, the system operates with a lower initial lever ratio. As a result, the suspension compresses less, responds more directly to the rider’s inputs, and provides more feedback from the terrain.
The bike feels lively. It invites you to actively push through corners, use bumps to gain speed, and tackle jumps with ease. At the same time, the shock can be ridden with significantly lower air pressure, which provides additional comfort and traction.
With 160 millimeters of travel up front and 150 millimeters in the rear, the R.XX offers exactly the reserves that demanding trail and all-mountain riders expect.
The Powerhouse: Avinox M2.S
For drive performance, we rely on the most powerful Avinox platform currently available.
The Pro, Ultra, and Ultimate models feature the new Avinox M2.S, while the Core model comes with the Avinox M2. In Boost mode, the M2.S delivers up to 1,500 watts of power and provides powerful assistance when the terrain gets steep, technical, or particularly challenging.
But power alone doesn’t define a modern e-MTB drive system. That’s why the Avinox integration also impresses with its smart features. For example, using the Avinox app, you can set charging limits to protect the battery cells or plan rides optimized for range. All relevant information is clearly displayed on the integrated 2-inch OLED screen.
This turns high power into a predictable and controllable range.
Kinesthetic Engineering: Precision for Every Body Size
A key development goal was to optimally integrate the rider into the overall bike system.
Analyses of current body size distributions show that many riders fall exactly between the standard sizes M and L. That’s why, for the first time, we’re expanding our size range to include the new M/L size.
A total of five frame sizes, from S to XL, are available. At the same time, the rear triangle length increases proportionally with the frame size. This ensures that the ratio between chainstay length and wheelbase remains constant across all sizes.
This ratio of approximately 35 percent was developed in collaboration with our ROTWILD Schwalbe Gravity Team over several years and validated on a wide variety of test platforms.
This concept is complemented by a deliberately long reach combined with a short 35-millimeter stem. This provides stability, freedom of movement, and control on any terrain.
The integration of the Eightpins seatpost also ensures maximum adjustability. In the XL frame, it allows for a travel of up to 240 millimeters.
Performance You Can Feel
The R.XX wasn’t designed to impress with raw numbers. It was designed to deliver on the trail.
Its true strength lies in the synergy of all its components. The light weight, balanced geometry, direct kinematics, and powerful drivetrain create a riding experience that feels lighter than the scale would suggest.
The R.XX doesn’t require a suspension or geometry expert. It’s built for riders who want to hop on, ride off, and experience the trail—with maximum riding fun, long range, and the confidence that they’ll always have plenty of reserves.
With the R.XX, we prove that lightweight construction and performance don’t have to be a contradiction. They belong together.
