R.EX ULTRA wins Design & Innovation Award 2026
Benchmark. R.EX ULTRA wins DI.A
In its detailed assessment, the expert jury highlights the conceptual strength of the bike: "With the built-in Avinox motor system, the ROTWILD R.EX ULTRA marks a technological milestone in its portfolio. At its heart is the harmoniously integrated motor in combination with a specially developed 900 Wh battery – the only model of the Avinox system to date with a removable battery." This unique combination of integration and practicality forms the basis for outstanding performance.
The interaction between the drive and the chassis is particularly noteworthy: “In combination with the progressive rear suspension, the R.EX ULTRA converts the motor power into finely controllable, powerful propulsion.” The striking Elevated Box Design – ROTWILD's interpretation of a mid-high pivot rear triangle – is not only mentioned as a visual statement, but above all as a functional advantage: it “also effectively reduces pedal kickback.” The result is a bike that presents itself as a “confident climber” and “delights ambitious riders.”
The award confirms our holistic engineering approach. The R.EX represents the next evolutionary step in the ROTWILD world, combining a newly developed kinematic concept, state-of-the-art drive technology, and meticulous workmanship to create a unique bike. It is this focus on well-thought-out details and genuine trail benefits that makes the R.EX ULTRA not only an award winner but, according to the jury, one of the benchmarks for e-mountain bike development in 2026.
The mission of the Design & Innovation Awards
The Design & Innovation Award (DI.A) is more than just an award. It is an award based on real product testing, comprehensive evaluation, and critically sound statements. As a seal of quality and benchmark for the most outstanding products in the outdoor, bike, and fitness industry, the DI.A provides guidance in an increasingly differentiated market with a flood of new products and supposedly new trends, while also serving as a catalyst for future innovations.
The best products of the year impress not only with innovation and performance, but above all with real benefits and new approaches to cycling. Tested on trails, mountain passes, and city routes around Brixen, the Design & Innovation Award delivers a credible selection of products. The 2026 award winners are therefore more than just highlights—they are the Oscars of the bike industry!
