Meeting place for innovations. ROTWILD at the Eurobike 2024
Around 1,800 exhibitors, over 35,000 trade visitors and an additional 33,000 bike enthusiasts on the two public days - that meant five jam-packed days full of innovations and trends. The 32nd Eurobike, the leading trade fair for the bike industry, was held in the trade fair city of Frankfurt at the beginning of July 2024 and once again proved its importance as an international meeting place for all bike enthusiasts. A highly frequented hot spot was the ROTWILD stand in Hall 12, where ROTWILD presented its latest innovations and attracted numerous visitors.
Curtain up for the ROTWILD R.EX
The R.EX, the all-mountain version of the World Cup Enduro R.EXC, celebrated its world premiere at Eurobike. Derived from the technology of the race bike, the new bike relies on the same innovations that the ROTWILD Schwalbe Gravity Team uses in the E-EDR World Cup to race over the most demanding courses. Versatility is the main feature of the R.EX. The bike is designed for the widest possible range of use and, with its new suspension, offers an impressive riding experience on both demanding uphill sections and fast downhill trails. These features are in line with current trends, which show a growing enthusiasm for technically demanding climbs and fast descents.
Packed with technical innovations, the R.EX opens a new chapter in the ROTWILD world. So it's no wonder that the R.EX was very well received at Eurobike and attracted numerous visitors. The R.EX impressively demonstrates how experience and success from World Cup racing can be incorporated into a versatile mountain bike for ambitious hobby riders and professionals alike.
SHIMANO x ROTWILD
ROTWILD CEO Peter Schlitt welcomed a special visitor to the stand. With Taizo Shimano, President of Shimano, and Bernhard Lange, Managing Partner of the Paul Lange Group, two outstanding personalities from the bike industry came to find out about ROTWILD's new products directly on site. The focus was on the ROTWILD R.EXC race bike, which successfully relies on Shimano technology for both its drivetrain and shifting components.
The innovative spirit is the common basis of the long-standing cooperation between Shimano and ROTWILD. This cooperation has reached a new level this year. The traditional Japanese manufacturer is an important partner in the ROTWILD Schwalbe Gravity Team and supports the World Cup racing team in particular, among other things through a close exchange in the optimization of the software. With shared visions and technological innovations, Shimano and ROTWILD are setting new standards and continuously driving forward development in the bike sector.
Work tool. The R.EXC from Torben Drach
This was a special eye-catcher at the ROTWILD stand: the original competition bike of German runner-up and World Cup rider Torben Drach from the ROTWILD Schwalbe Gravity Team. Although the 26-year-old from Karlsruhe was unable to come to Frankfurt in person, he had sent his R.EXC in size XL. Torben has already ridden this bike successfully on the race tracks this season.
Together with the racing team, ROTWILD Engineering has developed the racing machine with its eye-catching and revolutionary suspension to production readiness. Technical innovation: the Mid-High Pivot System works around a higher pivot point and raises the bike's riding dynamics to a new level. The high rear suspension stiffness and the optimized anti-rise and anti-squat values make it the ideal companion for E-Enduro racing. The R.EXC will go into series production this year, giving amateur riders the opportunity to ride a bike that has already proven itself in the World Cup.
Revolution in lightweight construction - The R.X275 ULTRA: 12.72 kg
There was a special highlight for technology enthusiasts at the TQ-Systems stand. The R.X275 ULTRA is one of the lightest e-mountainbikes on the market, even with its standard equipment. But what ROTWILD employee Danny Herz and Bike Lounge owner Tom Hüttmayr have achieved with this lightweight concept sets new standards in the field of bike tuning
With the strict requirement to only use parts that are available on the market and fully usable, the two have created an e-mountain bike that weighs in at a feather-light 12.72 kg including pedals. A weight that is almost revolutionary for a fully functional e-mountain bike. A special highlight is the carbon wheelset specially made for the project by Radsporttechnik Müller. Both wheels together weigh well under one kilogram.
The other components are also high-end: 12-speed mountain bike cassette with a 10-52 gear ratio, electronic SRAM rear derailleur with carbon tuning parts, FOX 34 Step-Cast fork and a special detail, a handmade carbon valve cap weighing just 1 gram. A small nostalgic highlight: Danny dug deep into the retro box for the XTR crank bolts made of titanium, which date back to the 1990s. The dropper post underlines the fact that despite all the lightweight construction measures, functionality has not been sacrificed.
Design award winner 2024 - the R.R275 X e-gravel bike
The ROTWILD E-Gravel Bike has won both the IF Design Award and the "Best of Best" at the RedDot Design Award 2024. These prestigious awards emphasize the bike's outstanding product design. The close partnership between the ROTWILD engineers and the design experts from Artefakt in Darmstadt was a decisive factor. The combination of creativity and comprehensive know-how of all those involved brought the project to the forefront of international design. The R.R275 X therefore not only stands for innovative technology, but also for excellent design, which has received international recognition. These awards are proof of the high level of product development at ROTWILD.
VELOSOLUTIONS x ROTWILD
The ROTWILD crew stands behind this initiative with full conviction: ROTWILD is supporting Velosolutions' #pumpforpeace initiative with 100 dirt bikes. This campaign aims to promote the positive effects of the pump track idea and give children in disadvantaged regions of the world access to biking.
Freeride legend Richie Schley had come all the way from the USA to Frankfurt, and the two of them had a lot to say about E-MTBs with YouTuber Sam Wordley (Sams Bikes).
