Full focus on the details

EMTB tests the new R.X735. A new E-MTB for a certain type of rider. That, at least, is a conclusion drawn by EMTB editor-in-chief Josh Welz. The publication has put the latest addition to the ROTWILD family in the premium equipment variant ULTRA through its paces. In the process, the testers took a very close look at many details of the bike.

Before the test, Josh Welz asks the provocative question about the sense of the R.X735. After all, there is with the R.X750 already an E-MTB of the brand for the high mountains - with comparable battery power and suspension travel. The new ROTWILD could therefore even be seen as a "gap filler" between the already offered Big Mountain and the Light E-MTB R.X375. A conclusion that he does not let stand isolated for long. The R.X735 is a bike for "a different type of rider". Especially in the field of trail and downhill, the latest ROTWILD shows its temperament. "Lively and agile, the bike circulates over trails, steers with a lot of pressure on the front wheel precisely through curves and craves speed," emphasize the testers.

Downhill points

"The rather low front requires some courage in very steep passages, but the chassis offers excellent traction and control," writes the EMTB. Thus, the rear triangle and the suspension of the Fox 36 Factory fork adapt to the ground "very sensitively", hold the forces when landing after jumps "sufficient progression". The low front and the long front frame require a sporty stretched sitting position of the rider on the bike. This helps to ensure that the front wheel does not lose traction uphill. "The sensitive rear end generates massive traction" emphasizes Josh Welz. You have to accept that there are "climbing specialists in the all-mountain class" that generate more counterpressure. However, experienced riders could also "master almost any uphill challenge with the trail specialist."

"Pulled out all the stops," judges the EMTB about the carbon frame and the newly designed rear triangle. Noticeable advantages: a lot of traction and high speed in the downhill sections.

Which motor is installed?

In the R.X735, ROTWILD relies on a different motorization with the Shimano EP8 than the Brose unit in the R.X750. The model from the Japanese manufacturer brings a weight saving of 400 grams. The battery, which the rider can remove from the side of the frame, weighs 3.6 kilograms and thus belongs to the lightweight category in relation to its capacity. In addition, the frame is made entirely of carbon. Only the damper yoke is made of aluminum. In addition, the ULTRA version comes, among other things, a complete XTR equipment, a Fox Factory suspension, Crank Brothers carbon wheels and an Eightpins telescopic post.

The test result?

The new ROTWILD gets the grade very good. "At 21.4 kilos, the R.X735 sets the benchmark in the all-mountain class. As a range-strong lightweight with sporty genes, it covers a wide range of uses and also represents a high-torque alternative to the emerging Light category," judges Josh Welz. Benchmark in the all-mountain class, so the EMTB calls the new R.X735.
