Faster on any surface: the new ROTWILD R.R275 X

It feels "back to the roots" - our R.R275 X. It is the first gravel bike with eAssist from ROTWILD and a clear statement on technical innovation and radical design. But it is also a reminiscence of its roots in competitive sports. It is no coincidence that the "R" stands for Race, as in the RSR Road Series models from 1998. "With the R.R275 X, we are also underlining our claim to create bikes for sporting ambition. Now with a model that is primarily at home on asphalt with its racing bike spirit and geometry," says ROTWILD Managing Director Peter Schlitt. "However, it doesn't shy away from forest paths, gravel or trails. We therefore see it as a flexible all-road bike."

The R.R275 X brings things together

Where you go is not so important at first. What counts is the rider's focus on the goal they have set themselves of improving from lap to lap. All according to their own plan. At the same time, he never loses sight of the adventure and fun factors. The R.R275 X is a patented partner for this. It is the symbiosis of the discreet but constantly supportive concept of the eAssist and a radical design that integrates high functionality into a new design language.

Die Freiheit, den Trail unabhängig vom Untergrund zu bestimmen, macht das Graveln aus.

Let there be light

In the truest sense of the word, the highlight in terms of technical innovation and safety is the Supernova lighting system. "Together with the specialists for headlights and lighting, we have brought a new approach to market maturity by completely integrating the Starstream front headlight into the stem," says ROTWILD Product Manager Johannes Matschos. Twilight and darkness should not diminish the fun of riding for long. The rider can activate the high beam via a button embedded in the right-hand side of the handlebars. A sensor in the display measures the brightness of the surroundings and automatically switches the headlights on and off accordingly.

The construction of the stem as a novelty

The stem consists of two shells. The lower shell is made of aluminum in a new design concept. It creates a direct connection to the head tube and absorbs a large proportion of the forces acting on the stem. The developers have routed all the cabling for many of the controls through the stem and invisibly into the down tube of the frame. For a look that does not disrupt the flow of the bike. The upper shell holds the entire stem in place and serves as an interface for the cabling for the integrated Supernova light. It also offers the option of using an adapter for a bike computer. A higher lower shell for changing raises the entire stem by 2 centimeters.

The eAssist with the innovative Boost Button

In the R.R275 X, ROTWILD continues the eAssist concept from the lightweight trail bike R.X275. The focus is on the rider's own power, which meets the efficient support of the Integrated Power Unit (IPU). This consists of the HPR 50 motor from TQ and a battery with an effective 250 watt hours. Smart motor control ensures a good balance between the rider's cadence, the necessary motor support and economy. Customers will also find the boost button in the R.R275 X. For those moments when a boost is needed - on a climb, coming out of a bend or on crusty surfaces. It is integrated into the left side of the handlebars and can be operated very intuitively.

Bis zu 300 Watt Extrapower. Für den Moment oder bis zu 30 Sekunden. Mit dem Boost Button

"Lightweight construction and gentle assistance ensure a natural riding experience," emphasizes Johannes Matschos. "Even beyond the assistance limit of 25 km/h, the system is very easy to pedal freely. The fade-out of the motor is not noticeable." For those who want to extend their range even further, there is the option of using a range extender with an additional 160 Wh. The size of a 0.5-liter water bottle, it can be placed quickly and easily on the down tube via a Fidlock adapter. The rider's thirst can also be quenched. They can take a real water bottle with them via a second slot.

Gravel wheels and tires for every surface

The tires of the R.R275 X bring everything that is in the geometry, motor and construction to the road. Or rather: the forest path, the gravel, the mud, the trail. ROTWILD has chosen the Schwalbe G-One R Evo tires to match the sporty performance. A multi-layer polyamide carcass ensures high puncture resistance and protection against punctures thanks to its stability. The studs on the tread and side surfaces provide better traction and grip. For the first time, ROTWILD obtains the wheels from the Austrian manufacturer XENTIS. They are made entirely of carbon and are manufactured by hand. A special surface finish has a very fine pattern and a special coating protects against UV radiation.
