Team AMG ROTWILD rider Sofia Wiedenroth achieved a substantial performance improvement during the WC XCO in La Bresse, France and her best WC result yet. With a 8th place, she also secured her WC qualification.

It didn’t look too good for her at the beginning of the race as she had to start from a position further down the field. Right from the start, she couldn’t get power on the pedals, which seemed to be messing with her startup routine. But then Sofia took advantage of the track lay-out because after the start loop the track transitioned into a long climb with a slope - at some sections - of over 15%. An excellent opportunity to attack and therefor Sofia did the complete uphill in a standing up position. She fought her way back into the race. At the technical downhill sections, the German Champion took advantage of her extraordinary downhill skills.

By the end of the second loop she already found herself in 6th position but due to her continuous powering she had to let two competitors pass before crossing the finish line. However, the U23 rider was apparently very happy with the race result: “I had real power at the climbing and I didn’t make any mistakes at the downhills. With my 8th place I also got back into the top 16 of the WC ranking. During the next WC in Lenzerheide I’ll have start number 13!”

Sofia rides and successfully races the ROTWILD R.R HT 29 on which you can find further information right here.
