AMG ROTWILD racer Sofia Wiedenroth, the only German U23 competitor, ended up 13th at the European Mountainbike Championship in Jönköpings, Sweden.

Sofia was immediately enchanted from the difficult track in Huskvarna-Bergen during practice. The technical and fast downhills were designed with rock gardens and root filled single trails. The 200 altitude meters on the 4 KM track promised to have challenging uphills. Challenges, that were very favorable to the young AMG ROTWILD pilot and her race bike. Unfortunately Sofia couldn’t influence the out-come of the race.

Yet in the first loop started a tough one-to-one fight for the title. The favorites from Switzerland and Sweden dominated the followers right from the start. Sofia missed a promising position during the start loop. On the rough gravel she lacked of the right punch to get a place in the front row so that she felt way back when she entered into the the first single trail. During the uphill section Sofia come very close to her limits and could gain some positions.

From 22nd last year to 13th position this year Sofia was satisfied with her performance but unhappy with the development of the race:" The first two loops were very tough. At some time I thought to fall off the bike. In the 4th loop I crashed in the gravel because I carried too much speed from the downhill into the curve. I got back on my bike as fast as possible. I didn’t want anybody to occupied my position and I put in everything to remain it. In loop 5 the distance regarding position 14 and 15 got larger and so I finished 13th. But it was great fun here in Sweden”.
