Podium position for Mariela Scott at the XCO COPA CHILE

Last weekend the COPA CHILE XCO race took place in Sobrante/Petorca, approximately 200 km north of Santiago. This little spot lays in a valley of the Andes Mountain that can be accessed coming from the south via a one way tunnel.

A wonderful warm and dry winter day welcomed some 200 competitors to the race. That it haven´t been more riders has to be contributed to the fact that the weekend before the last the Chilean National Championship was held and many riders were still recovering.

The Chilean TEAM ROTWILD ambassador Mariela Scott however showed up and delivered a solid race performance. Mariela was very motivated right from the start and already could make it from the 4th to the 3rd position in the first round, position that she defended until race end. This meant the bronce medal as well as the 3rd place in the overall ranking.

At the finish line Mariela commented: “Finally a spot on the podium in the elite category after my injury last year. This race location has a special meaning to me since I suffered an accident on this track in Sobrante exactly one year ago. Today I wanted to compete in this race to prove myself that I wasn’t afraid of this very technically demanding track. Right from the start I trusted on my long time experience and my technical driving skills and concentrated on the essentials. During the last round however I felt that my strength left me but the third place was mine. I am very happy about the result and proves that I still have what it takes to compete in the elite category”.
