Mariella Scott with a good start into the racing season
Mariela Scott participated in the 3. COPA CHILE in La Ligua on May 7th and 8th. It was her first official XCO race as the new brand ambassador of Chilean ROTWILD TEAM.
A beautiful sunny day, allowed an impeccable race development with over 300 national and international riders. This UCI class 2 event had a very demanding technical track and some racers had their difficulties to keep their pace.
Mariela Scott, who started with her ROTWILD R.R2 in the Women Elite category, had a good start but lost some important seconds due to a crash in the first loop. The XCO track was filled with jumps, pumps, climbs and descents had its challenges for everyone and after the third loop the women field showed exhaustion while the 4th and last loop seemed to be endless.
After crossing the finish line Mariela explained:”In the first loop, I came to a very steep downhill, which ended in an immediate uphill where I lost the control over the bike and crashed. Fortunately nothing serious happened to me nor the bike, but the handlebar wasn’t centered anymore and I had to pull in for mechanical help to get it straightened. This costs me some very important seconds. But I am happy with my strong 6th place in an international dominated race.”
Mariela finished the overall classification at the 8th place. This result is a very starting position to work on her 2016 goals to become one of the top 5 riders in the women elite category.
