After eleven years of cooperation, German premium bike brand ROTWILD and Canadian freeride pioneer Richie Schley are going separate ways. Both partners can look back on a successful history in the bike industry, which was characterized by mountain bikes, fascination for technology, lifestyle and enthusiasm for the sport.
In 2007, Richie Schley and ROTWILD CEO Peter Schlitt got to know each other and started a cooperation. With ROTWILD, the likeable mountain biker had found a bike manufacturer where he could contribute to the development with his unique freeride and big mountain experience.
The close contact between Schley and the engineering department, paired with his professional feedback and experience on the trails all over the world, proved to be a significant contribution to the further development of the ROTWILD product range, especially in the All Mountain and Enduro segment. Having geometry, kinematics and equipment perfectly matched to the requirements of ambitious gravity bikers was something that Richie was particularly close to his heart in his personal projects like the R.G1 FS big bike.
As a brand ambassador, Richie also made the ROTWILD brand better known on the international market, but the cooperation was even more important for Peter Schlitt, CEO ROTWILD Bikes: "In all those years that Richie and I have known each other, apart from the purely business relationship, in which our ideas, bike concepts and their implementation were the main focus, a very intensive friendship has been developed. This is something you can’t take for granted in the fast-moving bike industry. In view of the increasing importance of E-MTB, the future direction of ROTWILD and Richie's own plans, we have agreed that from now on we will be going our own, separate ways. However, this will not affect our personal relationship in the future, we will certainly keep in touch. I wish Richie all the best for his next chapter and the adventures to come."
The years with ROTWILD also mean a lot to Richie: "ROTWILD bikes has been a very large part of my life for the past 11 years. The team has listened to my ideas and dreams and helped them become realities. Together, we saw color come to the brand, curves to the already sexy shapes, some pretty big air and more recently electrified things. Peter Schlitt taught me a lot about business and the bike business more specifically. I developed a lasting friendship with him and many others in the company. What a ride and a million laughs. Thank you all for including me in your family and supporting my dreams for the past decade. You will all be missed”
